Riders participating in the Run for the Wall made a stop at the Veterans Museum in Lebanon Monday for lunch and took a moment to discuss their trip and the reason they ride.
Lebanon Police escorted the veteran bikers as they passed through the downtown square from Southside Elementary School leading up to the museum, located beside the Wilson County Courthouse on Main Street.
On Sunday, the main group arrived in Cookeville where they stayed the night. Monday saw a couple of outreach teams travel back to Lebanon and Murfreesboro to engage with the community.
The bikers take several routes from Ontario, California, to Washington D.C. Lebanon is along the Midway Route.
A wreath was placed at the monument for Wilson County military personnel who lost their lives in service.
Certificates of Appreciation were given to Lebanon Mayor Rick Bell; Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto (accepted on his behalf by ZaBrina Seay, Director of Veterans Services of Wilson County); Bill Moss, VFW Chapter 5015; Mike Myer, VVA Chapter 1004; Linda Yates, AVVA Chapter 1004; Lebanon Police Department and the Wilson County Veterans Museum.
A bio of a veteran who went missing during a reconnaissance mission over Laos in 1969 and was later labeled killed in action in 1977 was read after the presentation of the wreath.
The Tennessee State Coordinator for the Midway Route, Phil 鈥淟T鈥 Friedli, spoke about the journey along the Midway Route and the trip along Tennessee highways. He said the support the riders have seen was 鈥渆xtraordinary鈥 and other riders expressed gratitude to the support they鈥檝e seen.
After the lunch, the riders continued along their way, with their next stop scheduled in Bristol, Tennessee.
