Dannie was born Oct. 6, 1931, to Daniel and Hazel Hessey in Hermitage, where he spent his entire life.
He was a farmer by trade and spent his entire career in the agricultural business. He retired from Rudy鈥檚 Farm and Sausage after 23 years in 1988. He was an avid fan of both the Dallas Cowboys and Dolly Parton. Dannie enjoyed good food and was best known for his green tomatoes chow chow and his homemade sausage. What truly brought him joy was his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dannie will be missed by all who knew him.
Dannie was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Hurt Hessey in 1968; a daughter, Tangi Kay Hessey in 1968; and his second wife, Helen Stephens Hessey in 1998.
He is survived by his son, Dannie 鈥淩ooster鈥 (Donna) Hessey III; a daughter, Tammi Hessey; grandchildren, Bryan (Jennifer) Ollis and Justin Hessey; great- grandchildren, Faith Ollis, Jacob Daniel Ollis and Logan Ollis.
