Patrice (Pattie) Leeper, 81, of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at The Pavilion surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Davis Leeper; father and stepmother, Richard and Margaret Black; mother and stepfather, Jeannie and Coy Jenkins; and stepbrothers, Larry and Henry Jenkins and Jim Snow.
She is survived by her children, Cindy (John) Shields, Stacey (Glenn) DuBois and Kevin (Soutsakhone) Leeper; beloved granddaughter, Sydney Robin Shields; sister, Beverly (Ronald) Buls; and several nieces and nephews.
Pattie was born in Silsbee, Texas, on her grandparent’s farm in 1943. She grew up in Dallas, Texas, and went to college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
She met Wayne there and they married in 1964. They moved to Houston later that year, where Cindy and Stacey were born and then in 1970 moved to South Texas where Kevin was born.
Pattie went back to school after her children were in elementary school and finished her degree in education. She received her teaching certificate and taught elementary school in McAllen, Texas, for many years. Pattie loved children and teaching school, and Sunday school were her passion.
She and Wayne eventually moved to Lebanon, where she taught at both Friendship Christian School and Watertown Elementary. She was a member of the College Hills Church of Christ.
After retiring from teaching, Pattie loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Sydney, and in her garden and flower beds. They loved to swordfight with sticks in the garden, plant flowers together and pick tomatoes. They would often bake and sew together. She also loved attending shows at TPAC with her daughters and granddaughter.
Pattie enjoyed traveling, fishing, watching her Tennessee Titans and could often be heard singing her favorite church hymns as she cooked for her family. She shared vegetables from her garden with family, friends and the College Hills Food Pantry. She spoiled all dogs, but especially her beloved, Casey.
Pattie was baptized in January of 1964 and shared her enduring faith with her family through her words and deeds throughout her entire life. She adored her children, her sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter and looked forward to meals together with lots of laughter and teasing. She will be remembered as a loving sister, mom, mother-in-law and Nana.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Partlow Funeral Chapel from 12:30-2 p.m. with a celebration of life service to follow at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to College Hills Church of Christ Children’s Ministry or Food Pantry, New Lease on Life, or a local charity of your choice in her memory.
