The Lebanon Youth Baseball & Softball Association’s 10U Lady Devil all-stars opened a best-of-three series Monday with a 12-2 triumph over Smith County at Baird Park.
A 10-run fifth inning lifted Lebanon as Vivian Logue tripled home one run, Nessie Christenbury and Makenna Malone each singled in another and Mattie Earps doubled home three.
Both teams stole home in the first inning. Taylor Fisher swiped the plate in the bottom half to lift Lebanon into a 1-1 tie.
Smith County went back in front 2-1 in the fourth before Promise Manier hit an inside-the-park homer in the bottom of the inning to draw the Lady Devils into a 2-2 draw.
Emmie Thompson allowed two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out seven to earn the win.
Lebanon moved into the series with Smith County by beating Gallatin 5-1 last Friday as Manier homered in the first and third inning, driving in three runs total.
Thompson surrendered six hits and two walks while whiffing eight in six innings.
The Lady Devils’ first game took three nights to play due to weather June 16 which prompted the game with Smith County to be suspended in the third inning. Two nights later, Lebanon held on for an 8-6 win.
Makenna Malone tripled home a first-inning run for Lebanon. Christenbury and Manier each doubled home a score during a four-run third.
