Lebanon’s girls got off to the worst possible start last Saturday as visiting Bradley Central scored the game’s first 17 points and rolled past the Devilettes 59-28 at Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court in a TSSAA Hall of Champions game.
The two-time defending state champions led 28-4 at the first-quarter break. Lebanon trimmed the margin to 38-17 by halftime before the Bearettes outscored the hosts 31-11 in the second half.
Harmonie Ware led Bradley with 15 points. Malia Wilcox threw in three 3-pointers, passed for six assists, had seven deflections and six steals to go with 11 points. TaTianna Stovall had eight deflections and seven rebounds to go with 10 points as the Bearettes shot 57.5% from the floor
Tiara Spencer led Lebanon with 11 points, including three triples. Ellie Beth McDonald finished with five points, Naleiya Walker and Tramaria Neal four each, Ro Dowell a 3 and Maggie Kelley a free throw as the Devilettes hit 38.5% from the floor.
Lebanon will host the annual Kay Maynard State Farm Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Devilettes will host Brentwood at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by the Blue Devils against Stone Memorial at 6:30. Those will be the only LHS games of the weekend.
Mt. Juliet’s girls will open Friday with an 11 a.m. game against Spring Hill, followed by the MJ boys against Lipscomb Academy at 2:30 p.m. Brentwood boys, under former Lebanon football coach and Wilson Central assistant Troy Crane, will take on Whites Creek at 3:30.
On Saturday, Brentwood’s boys will battle Lipscomb Academy at 11 a.m., followed by the BHS girls against Cannon County at 12:30 p.m. Mt. Juliet will take on Upperman at 2 and 3:30 p.m. Spring Hill will take on Westmoreland’s girls at 5 p.m., followed by Stone Memorial against Whites Creek in 6:30 boys’ action.
Central splits Saturday DH at Franklin County
WINCHESTER — Wilson Central’s girls dropped a 79-43 decision to Alabama state runner-up Scottsboro last Saturday before bouncing back to beat host Franklin County 76-72 in overtime to close out the TSSAA Hall of Champions schedule.
Scottsboro used a 32-13 third quarter to widen a 33-28 halftime lead to 65-41 going into the fourth quarter.
Brylee Fly led the Lady Wildcats with 12 points. Kiley Jo Byrom notched nine points, Elllie Ramsey and Brooklyn Evert six each, Kylie Moss and Olivia Kinning four apiece and Annie Wilson two.
Central outscored Franklin County 12-8 in overtime to improve to 2-1 for the season. The Lady Wildcats led 20-15 at the first-quarter break, 35-32 at halftime and 50-46 going into the fourth before the Lady Rebels rallied into a 64-deadlock.
Fly hit 11 of 17 shots to lead the Lady Wildcats with 21 points while Evert added 16 and Ramsey and Moss 10 each. Byrom notched nine points, Kinning seven and Alexis Jackson a 3-pointer.
Friendship falls to Trousdale
HARTSVILLE — Trousdale County got past visiting Friendship Christian 47-39 in a TSSAA Hall of Champions game last Saturday.
The Lady Jackets emerged from the first quarter with a 13-11 edge. They went into halftime ahead 26-21 and were up 37-39 going into the fourth as fouls took their toll on the short-handed Lady Commanders.
Emma Grace Holder had 14 points and Braylee Potts 12 for Trousdale.
Point guard Kate Petty led all scorers with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, for Friendship. Natalie Major supplied seven points, Annika Langford six, Anna Kate Reed four, Izzy Wilson and Reese Staggs two each and Maggie Reed a free throw.
